Those of you that know me well, are aware that I am a foodie. I recognize how fortunate I am to be able to eat many delicious meals as I travel throughout the country for fencing. However, I also understand that there are many people who are not as fortunate and in fact go to bed hungry.
As I researched the topic of hunger in my community, I was surprised to learn that in my area there are people who cannot afford to put food on their tables. I decided that I wanted to help, so I started a food drive at my fencing club and donate all the collected food to a local food bank. When I realized how wide spread the problem was, I wanted to do more to try and get others involved. My hope is to get other fencing clubs across the county to join me in this fight against hunger.
The positive feedback I have received to this initiative led me to expand the program to include selling Fencers Bouting Hunger merchandise. The sales of t-shirts to raise money for hunger relief charities has gotten off to a great start. As a result, I will be adding more merchandise to sell to help fund this cause. I am really excited about the opportunities that lie ahead with FBH, so stay tuned and check back often.
I created this website to be a place where people could learn about hunger relief and ways to help. Whether it is donating food, money, or time, I know with your support, we can make a difference in helping to bout hunger.
Please tell us what you think about our website. Tell us how you made a difference in your community by helping with hunger relief. We will post it here on our website. We look forward to your comments and your stories.
